April 2002 NewsletterPottery PaintingAt our March event, 14 women gathered to chat and paint pottery at Cafe
Monet. It was a great time to share stories and show off our creative side.
If you havent yet picked up your piece, it is ready for you to get
when you have a chance. During the evening, we took a little break and passed
the slate for the incoming officers. They are as follows: President - Melissa
Cox ( Message from MelissaI'm looking forward to serving as your alumnae president. I hope I can fill those big shoes left by Carrie! Thanks Carrie for all your hard work and dedication. I will be working this summer with the other executive members to plan the upcoming year. If you have any suggestions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact any of us. My home phone is 513-522-6698 and my home-mail is mscox_2000@yahoo.com. Additionally, I am looking forward to representing our chapter at this year's June convention. I hope to return with great new ideas and lots of enthusiasm. Lunch at the Bon BonnerieWe will be going to the Bon Bonnerie on Saturday, April 20th at Flower Sale 2002We have made a change of plans with our annual Flower Sale. Due to the major competition we face with other groups selling hanging and bedding plants during the spring, we have decided to sell fall mums and decorative cabbage. This will allow us to have a very easy fund-raiser as well as beautifying homes later in the year. You will be sent order forms in August for pick-up in September. As always, you are welcome to ask friends, neighbors and family to buy flowers as well. Welcome Micki!Several alumnae had the honor of being present at Micki Glotfelters initiation in March. It was very touching to watch as she shared this special moment with her mother, Carol Glotfelter. Micki, welcome to our sisterhood. You are a wonderful young lady who we are very excited to have among us, and we look forward to helping you any way we can! Some Final Thoughts From CarrieIts hard to believe that this is the last newsletter that Ill be sending to you. The past two years of serving as your Alumnae President have been exciting and rewarding. Many people work very hard to plan exciting events and to communicate as best as we can to all of you while also balancing family, work and other volunteer commitments. Without these volunteers, we would not have a chapter. First and foremost, I have to thank Carol Glotfelter. Her support has been unwavering, and I am thankful to have her as my sister. Carol, Im so glad I was always able to ask you for advice and know I was hearing an opinion that was honest and encouraging. Thank you! Kate OHara, Erin Messersmith and Michelle Moody have served as Ivy Connection Co-Chairs, and their excitement and energy have taken that group to the next level. I am very saddened knowing that Erin and Kate will no longer be members of our chapter as they are moving out of the area. I am honored to have gotten to know you and will miss you both very much. Our chapter is as strong as it is because of this group thanks to the leadership of these women. I have enjoyed working with Katie Meyer, Christina Dennin and Michelle Proffitt as VP of Programming, Panhel Representative and Treasurer, respectively. Ive learned so much in the last two years, and I am sad to see it ending. I am very excited to see what the new Board has in store for us. They will do a great job, and I urge you to share your ideas with them. This is your chapter, and I know they will work hard for you. News from Gamma NuIn March, the women of Gamma Nu initiated 57 new members. There were several Cincinnati Alumnae in attendance at the ceremony including: Melissa Cox, Carrie Fulton and advisers Natalie Baird, Karen Wannemacher Frey and Carol Glotfelter. On Tuesday, October 1, the chapter will be presenting King of Hearts, a
new philanthropy. This will replace the Kiss Off/Turn On philanthropy that
the chapter has participated in for the last few years. King of Hearts will
be a male talent contest to raise funds for the The women have just one more month of school this year, but they have a packed calendar. There is Dads Weekend March 22-24, Professor Reception on April 3 and then formal April 5. Senior Ceremony, welcoming the senior class into alumnae life, will be Wednesday, April 24 at the chapter meeting. Gamma Nu Advisory BoardWe are pleased to announce that Amy Black Thomas will be joining the Gamma Nu Advisory Board next fall. Carol Glotfelter will be continuing on the board but as the Recruitment Adviser. Karen Frey and Natalie Baird will be continuing in their respective roles as Chapter Adviser and Operations Adviser. You guessed it! There is an opening on the Advisory Board for a Marketing Adviser for 2002-2003.
