Our Newest Member

As you may already know, in December, we extended a bid to Micki Glotfelter to join our sisterhood. Micki is Carol Glotfelter’s daughter and a recent graduate of UC. She works at Good Samaritan Hospital as an RN and is taking classes to become a massage therapist.

She will be initiated with the Gamma Nu new member class on Saturday, March 2 in Oxford. As always, you are all welcome to attend initiation. We will be meeting at Colerain Town Center at 8:30 a.m. to drive to Oxford together

Officers Slated

Carol Glotfelter, Erin Messersmith, Katie Meyer and Kate O’Hara met earlier this month to compile the slate for the 2002-2004 term. The slate is as follows:

President - Melissa Cox (Miami)
VP of Programming - Michelle Moody (Miami)
Treasurer - Lisa Lang (BGSU)
Ivy Connection Chairs-Ivy Nesbit (Miami), Micki Glotfelter (Alum Init.)

We will be voting on this slate at the March meeting, and if you have any comments or concerns, you are urged to contact either Carol Glotfelter or Carrie Fulton as soon as possible.

Spring Events

We will be painting pottery at Cafe Monet in Blue Ash on March 9 at 7:00 p.m. Take some time out before spring fever hits to create a wonderful item to decorate your house this spring.

In April, we will be going to the Bon Bonnerie on the 20th at 11:00 a.m. for High Tea. Join us for this delicious and fun event.

Flower Sale 2002

We have made a change of plans with our annual Flower Sale. Due to the major competition we face with other groups selling hanging and bedding plants during the spring, we have decided to sell fall mums and decorative cabbage instead.

This will allow us to have a very easy fund raiser as well as beautifying homes later in the year. You will be sent order forms in August for pick-up in September. As always, you are welcome to ask friends, neighbors and family to buy flowers as well.

You’ve got questions? We’ve got answers!

We all have moments when we have questions and can’t find that piece of paper or e-mail with the answer. You can always get your Alpha Phi questions answered by contacting Carrie Fulton at fultoncs@yahoo.com or calling her at 336-6258 or by going to our website at www.cincy-aphi.20m.com.

The Alpha Phi website also has links to other alumnae chapters if you are moving or want to contact your friends from your college days. That address is www.alphaphi.org.

Alpha Phi Introduces New Tagline and Logo

In an effort to convey a consistent look and message for all Alpha Phi communications and create a universal identity with which Alpha Phi will regularly be associated, Alpha Phi Fraternity has embarked on an image campaign. Take a moment to look to the top of this page at our Fraternity’s new logo and read below for the explanation of the logo:

• TIMELESS TRADITION captures the classic, legendary aspect of Alpha Phi as an organization established 130 years ago.

• CONTEMPORARY VISION portrays the forward thinking, proactivity and expertise of the organization and its members.

• Together, the two thoughts harmonize while they contrast. The tagline communicates "having the best of both worlds" and being well balanced.

• ALWAYS ALPHA PHI completes the thought with external confidence and communicates the longevity of membership. The organization, and all it has to offer, is always available for members.

• The circle of ivy illustrates the never-ending aspect of the organization. Ivy, one of Alpha Phi’s traditional symbols, represents strength through its vine. It represents what is classic, while conveying continuous and ongoing growth, well into the future.

News from Gamma Nu

Recruitment at Miami was amazing. With the help of many alumnae including Carol Glotfelter, Natalie Baird, Kate O’Hara and Karen Frey, the women gained 55 new members.

Carol, Kate, Carrie Fulton and Christina Dennin went up on Saturday, January 12 to give the women lunch paid for by you, the alumnae. All four of the women noticed right away the positive energy from the women! Congratulations Gamma Nu and the Advisory Board on a job well done.

Dear Cincinnati Alumnae,
