We will be discussing future dates and locations, but pencil in December 13 on your calendar for the next lunch.

November Fund Raiser

Bring a friend and start your holiday shopping while raising money for our chapter on Monday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m. We will be having a Candle Party at Katie Meyer’s home. Please RSVP by Monday, November 6.

Holiday Gathering

December is always a busy time so plan now to take a break on Thursday, December 7 at 7:00 p.m. to spend some time with us at Erin Messersmith’s home. We will be having the annual ornament exchange as well as the optional cookie exchange. Don’t worry about bringing cookies if it doesn’t fit in your schedule, but do take time to relax with some Phis.

Rush Pep Talk!

Memories of rush - the stress, the songs, the fun. We will show our support of Gamma Nu by traveling to Miami on Saturday, January 6 to have lunch and give a pep talk between rush parties. We are meeting at the Wendy’s off I-275 and Colerain Avenue at 11:00 a.m.

Local Dues for 2000-2001

As of October 27, we have 54 dues paying members. Thank you to those who have already paid. If you haven’t had a chance yet, please send your dues and information sheet to Michelle Proffitt.

Dues paying members will receive additional chapter and event information. They also receive and will be included in our annual roster due out in January.

Heart Ball 2001

This year’s Ball will be Saturday, February 17 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. Mary Ellen Trunick, Melissa Cox and Carol Glotfelter are representing us again this year on the planning committee.

If you would like to donate items to the silent auction, please contact any of our committee members. If you would like to attend the event, they would be glad to provide you with additional information. Last year, the ball netted $250,000 for cardiac research in Cincinnati.

Panhel Update

This year Panhel will be holding an exciting fund raiser led by our own Christina Dennin. The indoor miniature golf outing (suggested by Kate O’Hara) will be held on Saturday, March 31 at the Eastgate Family Fun Center. Friends and family are welcome. More details will be coming soon.

You can help by finding silver and bordeaux items or cute bears. Each group will be putting together a basket with their mascot and colors. Christina will be accepting items to put in the basket beginning at the Candle Party on November 13.

Ivy Connection Update

The Ivy Connection, a group focused on alumnae who graduated in the past ten years, was successful at getting alumnae up to Miami University to show the collegians our support. Come join us on November 8 to attending a regularly scheduled chapter meeting of Gamma Nu.

Following the chapter meeting, the chapter’s New Member Class is planning a reception / panel discussion for alumnae. This is a great opportunity for to ALL alumnae, not just Ivy Connection members, to meet these new sisters.

If you are interested in attending, please contact us. We will meet at 4:45 p.m. at the Wendy’s at Colerain and I-275 and carpool to Miami for the meeting and reception. We will also be organizing a carpool leaving at 5:45 p.m. for those who would like to participate in just the reception.

We are looking for fresh ideas. In the mean time, we are going with some which have worked in the past. On February 8 at 6:30 p.m., we will be getting together for some dinner and drinks at the T.G.I. Fridays on Montgomery Road.

Thanks to all of you who have joined us at recent events. We look forward to seeing you again and to seeing new faces as well. Let us know what you enjoy, and we will plan more of those events. If you have any questions or ideas please let us know.

September Meeting

Many thanks to the 15 sisters who attended our annual salad supper in September. A special thank you to Carol Glotfelter for opening her home! As our only business meeting of the year, we made the following decisions:

- Donation of $100 to Gamma Nu to provide lunch at Rush in January.
- Donation of $25 for a gift for the installation of the Kettering.
- Donation of $25 to Foundation.
- Passed the update to our By-Laws.

If you have any questions about these decisions, please feel free to contact Carrie Fulton.

Thanks from Iota Epsilon!

We received a note of thanks from the Iota Epsilon chapter. Who are they you may ask? They are our newest chapter located at Kettering University near Flint, Michigan.

We made a contribution toward the purchase of a Satin Crest which holds a special place in all our hearts. You can learn more about these women at www.kettering.edu/~alphia/home.html.

Founders’ Day

Continuing our Founders’ Day tradition, 21 women including representatives from Dayton Alumnae and Miami University gathered for lunch at the Golden Lamb on October 21.

We were honored to have Susan Barrick of the Foundation Board on hand to present the Cardiac Care Grant we received at this year’s Convention. Barb Rinto from UC’s Women’s Health Department was also present to explain the details of the program.

We also took this opportunity to honor Carol Glotfelter’s dedicated service to our group by presenting the donations you made in her Honor to Foundation. Our grand total was $270. A heartfelt thanks to those of you contributed!

A Note from Carol

To all the wonderfully generous sisters in the Cincinnati area the beautiful limoge pin box that - I was thrilled to receive Carrie brought back from convention as a thank you gift for my years as president of this dynamic group of women.

Then, you all went above and beyond the call of duty ... I was humbled by your Foundation donation in my honor and deeply touched by the beautiful presentation at Founders' Day from Carrie ... thank you all so much. It has indeed been an inspiration to me to be involved with you all. I look forward to many more years of Alpha Phi contacts and friendships!

Loyally,
Carol Glotfelter

Gamma Nu Update

The women of Gamma Nu paired with the men of Delta Upsilon again this year to raffle off a 2 year lease for a 2001 Jeep Wrangler. They sold chances for $5. Then names were drawn to get a key to try to "turn on" the Jeep at half time of Miami’s Homecoming Football game.

Over $12,000 in tickets were sold, and the Oxford Community Counseling and Crisis Center were given a donation of over $5,000. The success of the event was due to the Gamma Nu's effort as they outsold the DU’s by selling $1,800 more in tickets. They are appreciative to those Cincinnati alumnae chapter members who bought chances at the September meeting.
